The boys and girls from Years 7, 8 and 9 welcomed Tiverton to a friendly match at Clyst Vale on Thursday evening and certainly showed that all the effort and practice at club has had a positive effect. Woody and Stan led the boys squad supported by the powerful Freddie. The boys played singles and doubles against the two Tiverton Boys squads and whilst they lost to the visiting A team they beat convincingly the B team. Stan's 13-15 loss to the boys number 1 ranked player was a highlight, although all the boys showed good shot selection and some nice changes in depth and power.

The girls were captained by Libby as our rank number 1 player and in the absence of many visiting girls, our female squad set to work playing a mixed team. Libby showed polished skills varying her power, angle and applying great disguise to her shots. This meant she ended the evening undefeated, despite playing an exhibition game against the rank 1 male player from Tiverton as well. Lily played superbly in the rank 2 position winning her singles comfortably as well as linking well with the improving Jess. Serving by Jess was excellent and set every rally up with her in ascendance. Lily smashed and turned opposition round with her deep clears and as a pair were unbeatable. Year 7 Grace was experiencing her first badminton tournament and played well in her doubles showing quick reactions at the net and learning quickly from those more experienced than herself.

A great outing prior to the District Tournament on 24th November.
