Homework
Work set to be completed outside timetabled lessons is an essential part of the curriculum and is an important part in raising student achievement.
When appropriate homework is set, it enhances student learning, allowing students to consolidate and extend the knowledge, understanding and skills gained in lessons, improves achievement, and develops students study skills.
Effective homework requires careful planning and integration into each subject’s programme of study, it is an integral part of learning rather than an add-on. In addition to completing set tasks all students are actively encouraged to develop a study habit to support and deepen their learning, thus providing opportunities to study topics in greater depth and breadth as well as providing students with the experience of working to deadlines.
Our aim is to foster a culture where students are proactive in thinking, questioning, and developing independence in their learning. These skills will be essential for success at KS4, KS5 and beyond.
