Year 8 Rugby Report

The boys Year 8 turned out once more full of energy and enthusiasm as they faced a strong King's side containing many team mates from their local clubs.

Ever improving Aaron linked to Will and Mikey in the front row and secured a lot of good ball in the scrum, pushing hard and making Ned's job an easy one. Marco and Anthony locked in at second row and both players also showed good power running with the ball. It was hard work as Kings found gaps in the back line to burst through for a number of run away tries, but the heads did not go down.

Rory at 10 showed some of the running power we knew he possessed whilst on the wings Harry, Toby and at full back Roman were fast evasive and difficult to tackle. However, it was the rucking and mauling that Clyst Vale did best in and after a King's player was held up in the breakdown, a moment of magic was created as Henry stole the ball and ran full pace toward the posts, he was caught by a flying winger an agonising 10 metres from the line, but Oscar was quick to support and recycled the ball before driving over for a score.

A heavy loss, but another well played and positive experience.

Players of the match: Rory and Marco - both for distribution with their passing and also power in their running and tackling.
