Local Councillor Visit - 21st May 2026

It was a pleasure to welcome local councillors Henry Gent (Local Councillor) and Paula Fernley (District Councillor for Broadclyst) to College this week.

The lunchtime session was open to all students across all year groups who were invited to come along to a short presentation about local democracy and the opportunity to ask questions afterwards.

There were lots of thoughtful questions regarding both local and national issues as well as students wanting to be informed about how they can get into local politics.

Of particular interest was the current debate around lowering the voting age and banning social media for under 16's.
