Y7 Netball Tournament Winners
BackMiss Hall would like to congratulate our newly formed Year 7 netball team on the success of their first netball tournament.
Match report from Laila, Assistant Coach in Year 10:
Our Year 7 netball team competed in their first tournament at St Lukes School. There was a total of 10 schools entered, and we managed to come out as 1st place winners.
The first game that we played was against Sidmouth School. The girls were tight on defence and made some great turnovers to transport the ball to our shooters. From here, they demonstrated some amazing shots. This was a great way to start the evening as we took the win 11-1.
The second game was against St James; they worked through the court brilliantly without conceding a single goal. This game ended with an 11-0 win.
Our third game was against Isca. They had much stronger defence but the girls adapted to their game very well, not conceding a goal. The game ended 6-0 to us.
On the fourth game we played against St Lukes. This was a very intense game as it depended on whether we qualified for the finals or not. However, the girls came in strong and claimed the win 5-0.
In the finals, we played against a strong team from QE. This game had a tighter goal difference, and both sides were incredibly strong. Clyst vale pulled through and took the win 3-1.
We were very proud of all the girls as they gelled well together. Every single player gave it their all and it really showed in the outcome of the tournament.
Our defenders (Matylda-GD, Rose-GK, Lily-GK), worked extremely hard throughout the evening, incorporating everything that we had covered at training. Each of them capitalised on their defense very well and gained lots of interceptions, that changed the course of the games completely.
Our center-court (Chloe-WA, Bella-WD, Rosie-WD, Sienna-C), worked well getting the ball through the court up to the shooters. They also made many interceptions, which helped our games a lot.
Our shooters (Penny-GA, Lucy-GS) impressed everyone with their amazing shooting skills. They had a lot of range with their shots and worked with each other brilliantly.
The coach’s player was given to Lucy, for putting up some great shots and for being persistent throughout the evening.
This was a great evening with some incredible gameplay. We are very proud of all of the girls. Well done!
