Netball - Year 7 & 8 Roundup

On Tuesday, both teams represented Clyst Vale superbly in two competitive fixtures against a strong Year 8 Axe Valley side.

Year 8 Match

Our Year 8's put on an excellent display from start to finish. Lila and Lara controlled the mid court with accurate, composed passing, constantly feeding the circle and setting the tempo. In defence, Mia, Alex and Flo were outstanding-tight marking, strong interceptions, and great teamwork kept Axe Valley under real pressure. Up front, Matylda showed fantastic shooting form, confidently converting chances to keep Clyst Vale ahead, supported brilliantly by Emily at Goal Attack, whose movement and passing kept the attack flowing. A dominant opening half saw us lead 4–0, and the team carried that momentum through the second half to secure a superb 6–1 victory. A brilliant all round performance!

Year 7 Match

Our Year 7s faced a tough challenge against Axe Valley’s older Year 8 team but rose to it with determination and real team spirit. Rose was excellent in goal, making key saves and staying calm under pressure. Strong defensive support from Matilda and Chloe helped keep the game tight throughout the first half. Sienna was fantastic through the centre, linking defence and attack confidently, with Ellie supporting well to keep play moving smoothly. In the shooting circle, Lara and Lucie worked tirelessly against a very physical defensive pairing, creating chances and keeping the score close at the break. At halftime the Year 7’s trailed 1–2, showing real fight and resilience. Despite their hard work in the second half, Axe Valley managed to pull away, and the match finished 2–5. A superb effort from a young team playing up a year!
