Devon schools Individual Table Tennis championships

Two of our pupils took part in the Devon schools individual table tennis championships this week. Both Blake and Winter took part in a very competitive Under 13 age group which had over 40 players participate. Both boys cruised through their respective groups without dropping a set and in the knockout stages both won two matches to make the semi finals. Winter was up first against a boy from Plymouth who has been ranked in the top ten in England, despite hitting some very good shots he came away with a bronze medal. Blake met  someone from Plymouth college and despite at times being close, he ran away with it at the end for a 3-0 win and a place in the final.

The final was a close affair with Blake playing some strong attacking shots forcing his opponent to change their tactics. Blake won a set and was 10-9 up in another before losing out 13-11. Unfortunately the final score finished 1-3 against a very strong opponent and a runners up trophy was won. Both boys will be eligible to play in this age group next year as well.
