On December 14th our very own Maisy-Beau K in Year 11 was part of a 60-strong girls’ contingent representing their county as members of the Devon U16s England Rugby Player Development Group (PDG).

The Devon squad welcomed Gloucestershire to West Buckland School for a fantastic day of rugby, with three teams from each county competing against one another in a full programme of matches.

Now in her second season with the PDG, it was a particularly special day for Maisy as she was given the opportunity to showcase her leadership skills by co-captaining her team.

The PDG is a development programme focused on learning, growth, and versatility. Players are encouraged to challenge themselves, try new positions on the pitch, and embrace opportunities to develop both their technical abilities and mental skills, with skills development always the priority.

Rugby has become a real passion for Maisy. Playing her club rugby at Exeter Saracens, under the guidance of experienced Devon U18s coaches, has seen her development accelerate rapidly. Her natural, warm leadership qualities have been recognised through her role as captain at Sarries and now rewarded further with the opportunity to lead her team at county level for Devon.

Rugby truly is a great team sport. If you’re interested in giving rugby a try, Exeter Saracens are always welcoming new players — a brilliant place to make friendships and memories, and a real rugby family for all.
