16 to 19 Bursaries for Academic Year 2025-2026
A Bursary Fund has been allocated by the Government to each school with a sixth form or further education college etc, from which support can be given to learners in order to remove barriers to participation in education beyond the age of 16. The information below outlines how the Bursary Fund will work.
In you are in care, a care leaver, a young person in receipt of income support or Universal Credit or a disabled young person in receipt of Employment Support Allowance and Personal Independence Payment (PIP), you will be eligible to receive a bursary of £1,200 a year.
In addition to the above, schools and colleges have access to a discretionary bursary fund, which can be awarded in cash or in kind (e.g. travel passes, meals, equipment). This may be available to students from households with an income below £30,000. Priority will be given to:
- Students eligible for Free School Meals
- Students from households with an income below £16,000
