War Veteran Visits CVCC
Mr Arthur Jorden, who served in the Royal Air Force during the Second World War, returned to Clyst Vale in June. He last visited in 2009 and spoke to Miss Ashby’s tutor group. He was part of a special unit looking for the bodies of airmen. He was only 19 years old when he arrived in France shortly after the D Day landings .He moved to Canada in 1947 and he is now retired and lives in Vancouver. He was 87 on 4th July 2011. Miss Ashby’s tutor group have kept in close contact with him. They sent get well soon greetings after he had a major operation last year. In a moving speech to the group he told them that he was motivated to make a full recovery in order to return to Devon and thank 10AA in person for the kindness shown to him.
