Harry Patch Day 2014

  • hp5For Harry Patch Day 2014 we held a competition to produce a poppy for Mr Patch and had some superb entries. The prize winners were Anna Sharkey Year 11, Sophia Robinson Year 10 and Hebe Poole from Year 7. The prize for the best tutor group combined entries goes to Mrs Prance’s tutor group, 8YMPr. The poppies will be put in a display case in the new Humanities block.

We also raised money by holding a raffle; Ryan Loosemore, James Murphy and Jack Howarth from Year 13 did a superb job of selling tickets. Prize winners will be announced shortly. The cake sale in Post 16 was organised by Erin Santillo and Amalia Gimbuta and raised a good sum.

The staff cake sale was organised by the Exams and Data team and raised over £130. The cake baking standards this year beat all records. Lucy Phillips made some beautiful poppy cakes and many staff baked wonderful cakes and biscuits. We had visiting PGCE students this week including former post 16 student Vickie Sincock who is seen in the photo eating a poppy cake.

Our total amount raised for the RNLI at Exmouth this year will be over £400 which is a fantastic effort. Many thanks to all those who contributed to remembering this remarkable man.
