This term’s Deep Learning Day on Wednesday 25 March was yet again a very successful and varied day. Students took part in a variety of activities across a range of subjects. Students in Year 12 attended a local UCAS convention about applying to university. The focus of Year 11’s day was emotional health and well-being, including a powerful presentation by Bigfoot Theatre Company, workshops, board games with a difference, and a consideration of (British) values of tolerance. Year 10 students conducted assorted Science practicals as part of their controlled assessments for the various Science courses. Year 9 students spent a mixed day on Health & Fitness and ICT for Work. Year 8 were introduced to the delights of 17th century food, clothes, medicine, beliefs about witchcraft and weaponry at the time of the English Civil War. Year 7 went on a Humanities trip to Cheddar Gorge, looking at the caves, landform, and the history of Cheddar which will be followed up on their return.
