Recently I was delighted to present individual trophies to the U-15 Girls’ rugby squad who became National 10-a-side Champions in April, as a permanent souvenir of their achievement and the College’s appreciation. It was not just the winning, but the way in which they won. Some time after the event, I received an unsolicited letter from the match referee, Lt Col Marcus Elmhurst. He wrote, “It was not just the technique and skill that was praiseworthy, it was their character, personality and sportsmanship that stood out….it is fair to say that they set the standard for others to follow.”
Lt Col Elmhurst is right – they are a great team, and have done Clyst Vale proud.
