What’s in a name?

 school

Following the decision to create four Schools within the College we are seeking to involve the whole College community in the important decision about what to call each School

We need names that will:

  • be meaningful and appropriate to Clyst Vale and our wider community
  • help to create a sense of pride and identity in each School
  • provide a link with some aspects of our curriculum
  • symbolise our aims as a College
  • reflect our wider interests in local, national and global issues
  • stay relevant in the long term

The plan is to consult with students, parents and staff and then reach a decision as follows:

Week beginning 8th May

Students, parents and staff invited to suggest names

22nd May

Deadline for suggestions

25th May

All suggestions considered by the College Council who will select the most suitable sets of names to go to a vote

Week beginning 28th May

Vote on these alternatives takes place in tutor groups and staff room

11th June to 20th June

Results of the vote go to the Senior Leadership Team, Heads of School and Governors for ratification

21st June

Decision announced

If you would like to suggest a set of names for the four Schools please email with your names and the reasons why you feel they would be appropriate.
