Year 8 English Civil War Day Thursday 22nd March 2012

Four teachers from Great Torrington visited Clyst Vale on Thursday 22nd March. The students were able to find out about Clothing and Armour, The Work of a Barber Surgeon, Crime and Punishment and Witchcraft in England in the 1600s.

In the afternoon all Year 8 students were able to go onto the field and learn about pike drill and sword fights.

The students behaved perfectly throughout the day. They impressed our visitors with the quality of their questions.  Mr Dixon, Mr Pearce, Miss Knight and Miss Snook acted as group leaders. Mr Forbes, Miss Slee and some of our excellent support staff and post 16 students helped throughout the day.

The students found it an interesting and enjoyable day.

As they were leaving Mr Tom Henderson from Great Torrington said to me “Your students are magnificent.”

Many thanks to all involved.
