Inaugural East Devon Schools Girls’ Contact Rugby Competition Success

Clyst Vale recently organised and hosted the U13 and U15 girls’ contact rugby competition. The East Devon Schools participating alongside Clyst Vale were St Peter’s, St Luke’s, QECC, Tiverton and Cullompton Community College. The 7-a-side games were focussed solely on giving the girls game time in which they could develop their contact skills. The level of play was superb and the girls were then given details and talked to about which club outside of school they could attend to further their experience. In attendance were Lucy Sambell in charge of Exeter Saracens Girls’ Section and our own Miss Wright who run the Girls’ Section at Cullompton Rugby Club.

This strong link is continuing to establish girls’ rugby here at Clyst Vale and in the East Devon area, where there are clear pathways to represent at County, Regional and International level as illustrated by several current and previous students.
