£830 raised for Kenyan Partnership

Keep Calm and Curry On…..was the name of the winning team at the Quiz and Curry Evening on 23rd January! It was a glorious evening in every respect. The evening was a fundraiser for a very good cause, to support our international partnership and cultural exchange with Ndururmo High School in Nyaharuru. Students from Ndururumo will visit the UK and spend time in Clyst Vale in July. The evening was also very successful as a fundraiser, raising over £830 from tickets, a raffle, and sales of soft drinks.

It was a big team effort to stage the Quiz Night, and there are many people to thank. Ms Brotherton was the driving force and coordinator, supported by Mrs Grigg, and by our newest dinnerladies Ms Keaney and Mrs Leverton. The curry recipe was created by parent Lyla Justus, and prepared by a team including parents of students who visited Kenya last year. The PTFA kindly donated ingredients, and a variety of local organisations donated raffle prizes. Our Kenyan exchange students performed a variety of roles before, during and after the evening including sales, marketing, marking the quiz sheets and keeping score!

The whole Clyst Vale community was represented: students, staff, Governors, parents, PTFA, families, friends and neighbours, who must all be thanked for their generosity, and for contributing to the great atmosphere on the night. Bethan Hellier (Y12) did a fantastic job in asking the questions and keeping the audience entertained.
