Clyst Vale is a thriving and vibrant 11- 16 Community College situated five miles from Exeter. Cover Supervisor

The Role 

Starting after the Easter holidays we are looking to appoint a highly motivated, organised and confident person to join our team as a Cover Supervisor who can oversee classes when teachers are absent, ensuring that learning in the classroom is maximised.  

We are looking for someone who has previous experience of working in the education sector and is adaptable and open to development. This is an ideal opportunity for somebody who is maybe thinking of a career in teaching, or an NQT who is yet to secure their first teaching appointment.  

The successful candidate will deliver lessons planned by the teacher but have the ability to improvise if required and work with Heads of Departments to modify the work set. You will ensure that positive behaviour is shown in the classroom and challenge serious behaviour problems in line with the College's behaviour policy. Training will be given in the college's specific IT software, but the successful candidate will need to be able to use Word and Excel proficiently. If you have excellent communication skills, a resilient personality and can confidently liaise with teachers, other members of staff and parents where required, we would love to hear from you. 

Hours and Salary

Monday to Friday 08:30 -15:20. There may be some level of flexibility within the days worked for the right candidate.

Actual salary Grade D point 12 £20,032 for 1175.37 hours per annum as advertised.

Teacher of Science (Physics Specialism)

The Role 

Clyst Vale prides itself on its Science offer from year 7 to 11 and starting in September 2026, we are looking to recruit an innovative and dynamic Teacher to join our Science Department. 

 

We are looking for: 

- An outstanding Physics specialist with excellent subject knowledge; 

- A practitioner who is keen to enthuse students using a variety of approaches; 

- Experience of teaching Science at GCSE is desirable 

- A willingness to contribute to the enrichment activities of the Department;

Exams Invigilator

 The role 

Each academic year we require a team of responsible people to invigilate for a variety of exams. The main exam periods are in December, March, May and June but we also run mock examinations at other times of the year. We are recruiting some additional members for our existing team of exam invigilators.  The hours are flexible and varied and will suit someone who is looking to make a difference and can offer their time on a casual basis. All hours are agreed in advance each year and can fit around other commitments.  

Please note that you must be fully available during the main exam periods (December, March, May and June).  

You do not need previous examination experience, although an understanding of the importance and formality of the examination procedure and/or experience in managing groups of young people would be helpful. You may be required to travel to carry out home invigilation's, read and/or scribe for students. Training will be provided. If you are calm under pressure, have a pleasant nature but a keen eye then this could be the position for you. 

 

Salary 

£14.72 per hour including holiday pay

Teacher of SEND

The Role 

Are you a passionate and experienced teacher, looking to make a real difference to the lives of vulnerable students with SEND? Clyst Vale Community College is seeking to appoint an inspirational professional with a passion for SEND to work with students in a new provision. The successful candidate will be adaptable and flexible, able to work independently and well within a team, be student centred and relate well to vulnerable students.

Starting in June, we are looking for an experienced class teacher to work with 15 Year 7 students who are joining us in a new class (Supported Learning Group, SLG) from September 2026. These students will be following a highly differentiated, primary style curriculum, covering a broad range of subjects in Key Stage 3 and then working towards functional skills and life skills qualifications in Key Stage 4. This is a unique opportunity to work with students who have EHCPs and needs in communication and interaction and cognitive and learning but are keen to attend school and access learning. 

 

Responsibilities 

-Providing the in-school teaching and interventions for students in the SLG 

-Planning and delivering a bespoke and differentiated curriculum for the SLG taking into context their EHCPs. 

-Working collaboratively with mainstream school colleagues, families and external professionals. 

-Delivering staff training on supporting students in the SLG 

-Effectively deploying teaching assistants within the SLG 

-Pastoral care for the students in the SLG, ensuring their emotional well-being and access to opportunities within the wider mainstream school.

The successful candidates will be able to teach across key KS3 & KS4 and is offered on the main teacher's and upper teacher's pay scale. 

We are looking for: 

- An outstanding teacher with excellent subject knowledge; 

- A practitioner who is keen to enthuse students using a variety of approaches; 

- Experience of teaching English at GCSE is desirable; 

- A willingness to contribute to the enrichment activities of the Department;

This will be from September 2026-May 2027 and the reason for the fixed term position is to cover Maternity Leave. The Role 

As part of our ongoing work to align the College’s leadership structure with current OFSTED priorities and the national expectations set out in the DfE White Paper and wider SEND reforms, an exciting opportunity has arisen for us to appoint an effective leader to the role of Assistant Principal (Culture & Community). 

You will be responsible for and oversee our Rights Respecting School programme; the College's House System; student enrichment; Year 7 transition programme; community engagement and celebration events. 

As a member of our senior team, you will play a key role in delivering the highest quality support and leadership in all aspects of college life in order to ensure equitable access for all.  

The ideal candidate will be someone with middle leadership experience who is looking to progress to the next stage of their teaching career.
