Leading Lights in Art….

lantern1Some of Clyst Vale’s most talented artists in Year 7 to 9, nominated by their teachers, will have three special induction sessions making Christmas lanterns. The sessions are led by Zenna Tagney, Art Technician, who has made giant versions for carnivals in Cornwall. Students will use a variety of techniques – the first session shown here was using willow to construct the frame.

As the students are particularly good at Art, the session was remarkable for their concentration, cooperation, skill and ability to follow instructions first time and solve their own problems without much help. Even though Mr Brooks forgot the Christmas music, the atmosphere was excellent. We will publish some photos from the second and third sessions to show how the lanterns develop.
