Harry Patch Day 2022

Harry Patch Day (22nd September) was a great success. Led by 12HP we held a cake sale and raised £180.10 for UNICEF.
The post 16 students did a wonderful “dress up smart” day. Many of our current year 13 students went on our trip to Belgium and France as year 9 students. Niamh White, Oscar Bowden, Tom Massey and Megan Major had the honour of laying a wreath at the Menim Gate on behalf of Clyst Vale that year. All of our post 16 students treated the day with great respect.

The Harry Patch Peace Garden has also had a bit of a make over. Former student Eve Wollen very kindly gave up an afternoon on 21st September to help with the work. We have a group of students in 12HP, including Saffie Moon, Elly Hartley, Eliot Sibley and Daisy Bartram who have volunteered to help with the garden on a regular basis. We also have a new sign for the garden to replace the one we first put up in 2017.

I am delighted that our students are still honouring the memory of Mr Patch and all of those on “both sides of the line” who suffered so much in 1914-1918.
