Conference Call

On Monday 28th November a group of 15 Government and Politics students caught the 06.40 train to London to attend a Politics Conference at Westminster Central Hall in London. The speakers at this event included Tony Benn, Simon Hughes, Alan Duncan and John Bercow. Over 2,000 A level students attended the conference. Two of our students, Lucy Gold-Lewis and Graham Taylor were brave enough to get to the microphone and ask excellent questions.

After the conference we went to the House of Commons and met the MP for Exeter Ben Bradshaw. He was kind enough to spend 30 minutes talking to our group. He then managed to get us seats in the “Members Gallery” of the Commons to listen to a debate on Africa.

It was a long day but again it was a pleasure to take Clyst Vale students on a trip of this sort. Their behaviour was excellent of course, but it was the quality of their questions to Ben Bradshaw and the other speakers that especially impressed me. The students involved were Holly Bacon, Emily Bailey, Zach Bowen, Rob Bridge,  Alec Brimson, Tom Cross, Bethan Davey, Lucy Gold-Lewis, Eleni Greenwood, Shannah Haywood, Theo Miller, Rob Smye, Will Spragg, Graham Taylor and Louis Wenley.
